One of the UK’s first specialist language colleges, Hockerill Anglo-European College in Bishop’s Stortford (ten minutes from Stansted Airport, an hour from London) comprises around 850 pupils, a third of whom are boarders. There’s a cosmopolitan mix of staff, many of them bilingual, and pupils from diverse backgrounds. The school is one of the largest in the country to offer International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma programmes, and sixth formers sit the IB exclusively.
