This selective state grammar school for boys, with day girls in the sixth form, offers around 10 per cent of its pupils boarding, first in a beautiful Georgian mansion set in 100 acres of bucolic Shropshire countryside, with senior pupils moving into the purpose-built Beaumaris Hall in Year 11. It’s known both for its excellent academics and its sporting prowess.
