Charity Fair Raises 拢8,000
Beaudesert Park School鈥檚 Autumn Fair has raised 拢8,000 for local charity Read for Good. It is the first time the annual public shopping event, which raises thousands of pounds for charity each year, has run since 2019.
Read for Good, based in the local town of Nailsworth, provides brand new books and professional storytellers to seriously ill children in 30 of the UK’s biggest children’s hospitals.
Read for Good CEO, Justine Daniels, said: “We are thrilled with the generous donation of £8,000 from Beaudesert Park School's Autumn Fair - it will make a huge difference to thousands of seriously ill children in hospital.”
“Our cheery mobile bookcases, packed with carefully chosen books plus regular visits from our much-loved storytellers have been proven to comfort, distract, educate and entertain children in hospital.”
Over 60 local and national businesses joined the school on Saturday, 15th October to sell their products to the public, including retailers Oarsum, Astique London and Go Emu.
Families at Beaudesert Park also donated cakes to be sold at the fair, raising £523 towards the total.
Headmaster, Chris Searson, said: “In supporting Read for Good, all at Beaudesert know they are helping to raise the hopes and spirits of countless children in hospital.”
“We are so grateful to everyone who joined us on Saturday and contributed to a charity that benefits children throughout the country.”
The annual fair has been running for over 16 years and has raised over £110,000 for charity since its launch.
