Putney girls school raises 拢1,500 for Action Aid鈥檚 Syria & Turkey Earthquake Appeal.
Pupils, staff and families at Falcons School for Girls, have raised an impressive 拢1,500 within a day, for Action Aid鈥檚 Syria & Turkey Earthquake crisis appeal.
The Putney girls’ school hosted a non-uniform day on Friday 10th February, prompted by the recent devastation, to encourage their community to donate to the school’s fundraising for the crisis charity supporting those affected by the earthquake tragedy.
Falcons School for Girls Headmistress, Mrs Sara Williams-Ryan, said:
‘Watching these upsetting scenes unfold on the news, I felt we urgently had to do something as a school, to help those in crisis in Syria and Turkey. Our empathetic pupils are very much engaged in their important roles as global citizens, and we are lucky to have a very generous school community that we knew would be quick to support this appeal.
Thank you to all families and staff who kindly donated. We are delighted to have raised £1,500 from the Non-Uniform Day, which is being donated to Action Aid, who are doing an incredible job supporting families and those in need in the areas of devastation in Syria andTurkey.’
Action Aid charity responded:
‘Thank you so much – this is an incredible effort and we’re so grateful to everyone involved in this fundraiser for our Turkey – Syria earthquake appeal.’
