Clayesmore GCSE results
It has been another cracking year for GCSE students at Clayesmore with students bucking the national trend with overall grades higher than those pre-pandemic in all areas.
There were more grade 9s this year, more grades 8-9 and more grades 7-9. Top performers were Esme F, Billy J, Eleanor M and Yunqui S who all achieved an average grade of 8 or more.
Overall statistics were impressive, too: 10.3% (8.8%) of the results were at grade 9 or equivalent, 18.8% (17.3%) of the results were at grade 9 or 8 or equivalent and 30.5% (30.1%) were at grade 9, 8, 7 or equivalent (figures in brackets are for 2022). In addition, 32 out of 80 (40%) of our year 11 students achieved an average score of grade 6 or better. Given the much hyped deflation of grades this year, Clayesmore students outperformed all expectations with the percentage of our students achieving on average a grade 6 or better in each of their subjects higher than before the pandemic.
Head, Jo Thomson commented:
‘I am so proud of our students and their achievements given all the disruption to their studies in recent years. These impressive results are testament to their hard work, resilience and determination and of course their teachers’ commitment and support in all areas of school life. We can’t wait to see them continue to develop as they progress into the 6th form’.
