DLD College London’s Four-Figure Fundraising Series
DLD has announced its latest series of fundraising efforts – organised by the college’s student council – which resulted in donations to four high-profile charities, raising an impressive total of £1,874.
Showcasing the college’s commitment to charity work, student councillors channelled their energy into hosting a wide variety of events, including bake sales, ice cream sales, donut sales and a highly successful Christmas party for students and staff. With the end goal of making a real difference in people’s lives, the students didn’t need any encouragement when it came to fundraising efforts, with each event being a resounding success.
Supporting Evelina London Children’s Hospital, students hosted an impressive Christmas party with games, activities and holiday-themed activities, raising £500 for the charity. For Macmillan Cancer Support, a bake sale – with the help of kitchen staff – was held by the student council during break times to raise funds, with cookies and cupcakes on offer for people to buy, accruing a total of £600.
Furthermore, the Lady Garden Foundation received a £564 donation from the college as a result of a fruitful ice cream sale which was met with great enthusiasm by students and staff, raising awareness and funds for women’s health and gynaecological cancer research and lastly, students dedicated time to Cancer Research UK in a unique fashion by celebrating National Teacher’s Day and hosting a Krispy Kreme donut sale, subsequently raising £210 for the cause.
Principal James Kidd, full of praise for the student council’s efforts, commented: '
These fundraising events showcase the compassion, leadership, and community spirit of our students. Their dedication to supporting important causes is truly inspiring, and I am incredibly proud of their achievements. Through their fundraising initiatives, DLD students have demonstrated not only generosity but also a strong commitment to social responsibility. The success of these events is a testament to their enthusiasm and dedication to making a difference, setting an inspiring example for the school community.'
