Royal Hospital School Launches The Bridge, a Digital Skills Hub

The Royal Hospital School (RHS) is proud to share its’ Vision for Digital; a five-year roadmap to fostering digital literacy and empowering both staff and pupils with the skills they need to thrive in a technology-driven world.

RHS’s commitment to digital excellence is highlighted by its status as a Microsoft Showcase School 2025-25, recognised for its innovative use of technology in education.

This term, the School are proud to announce the official launch of The Bridge, a new Digital Skills Hub in the Richard’s Library; the latest step in an ongoing effort to provide world-class digital education.

The Bridge is a dedicated space designed to help users develop their digital skills through a variety of workshops and drop-in sessions. It aims to support the school community by providing practical resources and guidance on the use of technology, making it easier for everyone to navigate the digital landscape with confidence.

In addition to the physical hub, RHS is introducing The Bridge Online, a new Microsoft Teams platform for pupils. This virtual space will serve as an invaluable resource where pupils can seek assistance for digital issues. The platform will feature various channels for pupils to ask questions, addressing IT problems, and offering helpful resources such as tutorial videos, top tips, and interactive competitions.

To celebrate the launch last week, RHS invited pupils to design and print their own AI Avatar at The Bridge, with future sessions focusing on creative projects like designing the school’s logo for the hub, and the opportunity to register as Digital Most Valued Players, a role that will involve participation in upcoming summer term events.

Speaking on the launch of The Bridge, Irfan Latif, Headmaster at RHS, commented: “The Bridge is just one of the exciting components of our broader vision to continue to champion digital skills across the school. We want our pupils and staff to be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to leverage technology in all aspects of their lives, whether that’s for academic purposes, personal projects, or their future careers.”

RHS is an organisation at the forefront of technology use and innovation. The School embraces a digital-first ethos, fostering an environment where digital technology is not merely an addition but a fundamental aspect of educational and administrative landscapes. At RHS, digital tools transform teaching and learning, and technology is a key driver in preparing pupils for the future, in an ever-changing world. The Schools vision is underpinned by a connected campus, equipped with modern, resilient digital infrastructure that ensure an outstanding experience for every member of the community.

Mark Vickers, Head of Digital Learning, commented: “We are incredibly proud that RHS is at the forefront of the digital space in education. The opportunities we offer our pupils to enhance their skills and develop their potential are invaluable in preparing them for a digitally enabled future.’

In addition to The Bridge, RHS is also launching an Esports provision with the introduction of an Esports BTEC as part of their Sixth Form elective options. This will be supported by state-of-the-art facilities and high-performance computers PC in a dedicated Esports suite, further expanding the school’s digital offerings.
