Royal Hospital School Year 11 Pupils Make a Positive Impact on Local Community
Royal Hospital School has once again demonstrated its commitment to giving back to the local community during the school鈥檚 annual Service Day with its Year 11 pupils.
This year’s event saw the pupils engage in a range of hands-on community activities.
The pupils contributed their time and energy in several meaningful ways. At Holbrook Primary School, they worked alongside pupils in the Community Garden, helping to cultivate and maintain the space. Back at the Royal Hospital School, Year 11s supported various projects on campus, assisting with classroom work and improving the school’s outdoor spaces by cleaning and painting.
The school’s minibus was also put to good use as it headed to Stutton Primary School, where Royal Hospital School pupils worked in classrooms, supported reading sessions, and played with younger pupils during their breaktimes, fostering a sense of connection and friendship.
In addition, the pupils made a special trip to Oak House, a local care home, where they spent time engaging with the residents. The visit included playing board games and listening to stories from the residents, culminating in a lively and memorable game of Hangman that brought joy and laughter to everyone involved.
The Service Day was a great success, thanks to the enthusiasm and compassion shown by Royal Hospital School’s Year 11 pupils. Their willingness to engage with and support the community was truly inspiring. A huge thank you goes to the local partners who welcomed and supported the students during the day’s activities, ensuring that the pupils were able to make a positive difference.
Naomi Skau, Housemistress and Service Lead at the Royal Hospital school commented on the annual event saying:
“Together, we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our local community, and Service Day is just one example of how we work together to bring about positive change. We are incredibly proud of our pupils and grateful to the local organisations that continue to help us in these important initiatives.”
Bella, Yr 11 Pupil at RHS also commented on the day saying:
“I really enjoyed meeting all the children and getting a sense of giving back. The day made me feel fortunate for being at RHS, where we get the chance to help our wider community.”
Royal Hospital School looks forward to continuing to build strong, supportive relationships within the local community and to encouraging its pupils to grow into compassionate, responsible citizens.
