Taunton School becomes designated Pentathlon GB Hub
Taunton School has become an official Pentathlon GB Training and Development Hub, one of only a handful in the UK.
The School was chosen as a Hub due to its exceptional sport provision, including the vast number of opportunities available, the expertise of its teachers, its modern facilities, and the keen interest its students have in pentathlon, with many regularly taking part in regional and national competitions.
As a Pentathlon GB Hub, the School will run training sessions across the five disciplines of pentathlon: fencing, swimming, obstacle course racing, laser-shooting and running, which will be open to everyone, not just Taunton School students. Additionally, the School will host pentathlon events, community taster sessions and holiday camps.

This marks an exciting new chapter for our sports offering and places Taunton School at the heart of the national effort to grow and support this exciting multi-sport discipline.

Pentathlon GB is the national governing body for modern pentathlon in the UK and has been instrumental in promoting multi-sport events both nationally and internationally. The organisation has a strong track record of nurturing elite talent, including Olympic gold medallist Kate French, who triumphed at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
The body aims for its hubs to support local communities, giving everyone open access to its sports whether they are a committed athlete or just want to have a go.
