Horris Hill Community Comes Together for Easter Service
At the end of the spring term, pupils, staff, families, and friends of Horris Hill School came together in a
thoughtful and reflective Service for Passiontide and Easter.
Held in the school’s Chapel, the occasion marked one of the most significant periods in the Christian calendar, offering a moment of pause, togetherness, and spiritual reflection before the Easter break.
The service featured a selection of hymns and Bible readings, with pupils from across the school taking part. A number of Horris Hill children read the Easter story, concluding with the powerful passage from the Gospel of St Matthew recounting the resurrection of Jesus. Each pupil read clearly and confidently, and their delivery brought a real sense of reverence to the occasion.
We were honoured to welcome Rev Pete Wilkinson, Minister at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford, who gave a guest sermon reflecting on the message of Easter and how it continues to speak to us today. His words offered a thoughtful perspective on welcome, renewal, and the relevance of the resurrection in our everyday lives.
It was a pleasure to welcome so many members of the wider Horris Hill community into the chapel for the service. Moments like these, where friends, families, pupils, and staff can gather together, highlight the importance of community and shared experience that sits at the heart of school life.
Chapel services are a valued and much-valued tradition at Horris Hill, providing regular opportunities for reflection, celebration, and connection. The Passiontide and Easter service was no exception, and it was a fitting and uplifting way to draw the term to a close.
