Taunton School student receives prestigious engineering scholarship
Nathan, who is currently in Year 11, received the highly competitive scholarship because of his exceptional work and natural flair for Design & Technology.
The scholarship is awarded to only the very best engineering students following a rigorous application process.
The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is regarded as the most esteemed scholarship of its kind in the UK and aims to inspire and nurture future leaders in engineering. Nathan is one of only a few hundred students across the country to earn the scholarship, out of more than 1,500 applicants.

“As well as his natural talent, what really stands out is his kindness; he’s always mentoring younger pupils and helping them with their projects. Nathan truly deserves this recognition, and we’re excited to see what he does next.”
Nathan joined Taunton School in Year 9 when he was awarded a DT and Computer Science scholarship and has excelled both in and out of the classroom. He has played a major role in the School’s Greenpower racing team (a nationwide electric car design challenge), contributing his expertise in advanced 3D modelling and engineering design, and is always a keen participant in DT lessons and lunchtime and after school clubs.
The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is a nationally recognised programme designed to encourage high-potential young engineers. Each Arkwright Scholar is supported for two years during their Sixth Form studies and is paired with a personal mentor to gain additional guidance.
