Taunton School successful at historic swimming tournament

Taunton School鈥檚 senior students have achieved exceptional success at the Meade King Cup, a historic swimming competition.

The Meade King Cup includes all four independent schools in the local area, Taunton School, King’s College, Queen’s College, and Wellington School, and involves students competing in a range of swimming disciplines and styles.

Thirty students from Taunton School’s Years 9 to 13 took part in the tournament and walked away feeling proud of their performances, winning all six cups and the senior boys beating their own record set last year in the freestyle relay.

Beth Mottram, Head of Swimming, said: “It is an honour for our students to participate in the historic and prestigious Meade King Cup once again. The dedication from all swimmers and staff, across all four schools, continues a one-hundred-year legacy of competitiveness and camaraderie. I am incredibly proud of the humility, spirit, and effort displayed by the Taunton School swimmers.”

The Meade King Cup is the longest standing school sport competition in the world involving more than two schools and this year celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Swimming is a key strength for Taunton School with its students regularly succeeding in school, regional, and national events and training in the School’s two on-site pools with specialist teaching staff on personalised performance programmes.
