British & Irish Lions Star Ben Earl Returns to The New Beacon During the School鈥檚 125th Anniversary Year
As part of their 125th anniversary celebrations, The New Beacon pupils were delighted to welcome England rugby international and Old Beaconian, Ben Earl, back into school just a day after the announcement of his selection for the 2025 British & Irish Lions tour to Australia.
Ben, a key player for Saracens and an established presence in the England squad, returned to his former school to meet pupils and staff. The visit was a proud moment for the school community, offering boys a clear example
of where hard work, determination and a love for sport can lead.
Ben took part in a Q&A session, where he spoke about his journey from schoolboy rugby to the international arena. He also led a training session for the boys, offering practical advice and encouragement as they took to
the field. Throughout his visit, Ben was generous with his time—meeting pupils across the age range and answering questions.
There was also the opportunity for him to reconnect with a few familiar faces among the staff, some of whom taught him during his time at The New Beacon!
Headteacher Mrs Brownsdon said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Ben back to The New Beacon, particularly in such a significant year for the school. His visit provided the boys with an inspirational example of what can be
achieved through hard work and dedication and a unique insight into the path from prep school rugby to the highest levels of the game. We will be following his progress on the Lions tour with huge interest and pride.”
The New Beacon community congratulates Ben on his Lions selection and wishes him every success on tour in 2025.
