ISKL Celebrates 60 Years of Learning, Connection, and Community
The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) marked its 60th anniversary in April with a vibrant celebration of learning, connection, and community
Since its founding in 1965 with just nine teachers and 48 students at the Istana on Jalan Maxwell, ISKL has grown into a leading international school with over 1,800 students from more than 70 nationalities, located on a 25-acre campus in Ampang Hilir.
Festivities kicked off with iFest, ISKL’s annual cultural celebration organized by the Parent Teacher Association. This long-standing tradition featured international cuisine, music, and cultural performances. Simultaneously, ISKL hosted the IASAS Track & Field and Golf tournaments for the first time together, showcasing the school’s dedication to excellence, collaboration, and global citizenship.
The celebration continued with Jam at ISKL, a lively afternoon of performances by students, staff, and alumni, followed by Jom Lepak, a special dinner gathering over 500 guests. A highlight was the unveiling of the final life-sized Panther statue honouring alumni, part of a six-statue series created by Malaysian artists to represent ISKL’s community.

s a beautiful tribute to all of us who’ve carried the Panther spirit with us and a reminder that ISKL’s alumni tagline, ‘Once a Panther, Always a Panther,’ holds true – that sense of belonging and connection stays with you, wherever life leads.'
As ISKL enters a new decade, the school continues to honour its legacy while keeping its sights firmly set on the future.
