Royal Hospital School Equestrian Team Shines at Royal Windsor Horse Show
The Royal Hospital School (RHS) in Holbrook, Ipswich, is delighted to announce the exceptional performance of its Equestrian Team at the prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show, held across the 17-18th May, in the magnificent setting of Windsor Castle.
Competing in the Kingdom of Bahrain Services Team Showjumping, one of the event’s most high-profile international competitions, the RHS team delivered an outstanding display of horsemanship, courage, and composure. The team; Captain Molly Nichols (Year 9), Matteo Cue Quintero (Year 12), and Maisie Low (Year 9), represented the school with distinction, jumping under significant pressure in front of a royal audience that included His Majesty The King.

Riding alongside adult and military teams, including international defence teams from Bahrain and Iraq, the RHS pupils rose to the occasion and earned an impressive 6th place finish out of 18 teams. This remarkable result stands as a testament to their commitment, focus, and exceptional teamwork. In a particularly proud moment, the team also took part in a ceremonial parade with the King’s Troop, offering a royal salute to His Majesty, an experience they will cherish for a lifetime.
A standout performance came from Matteo Cue Quintero, who delivered a faultless clear round in the morning phase aboard his horse, Quiz, posting the team’s fastest time by an impressive 10 seconds. His confident riding contributed to the team’s early success and earned him the honour of riding again in the final round. Matteo’s bold and fast round helped secure the team’s rise to 6th overall. Looking ahead, Matteo has expressed a strong ambition to continue competing at a higher level.
Sophie Judge, RHS Equestrian Team Manager & Head of Classics at RHS said: '
This was more than just a sporting competition, it was a formative experience for our riders. Competing on an international stage, under the gaze of royalty and among professional teams, demanded maturity, resilience, and self-belief. Our pupils embodied all of these qualities and more. They were a credit to the school both in the arena and beyond it.'
Special thanks are extended to pupil parents Mrs Dora Nichols, Mrs Kate Low, and Jake Hall, Matteo’s external trainer, who generously provided coaching and support to the entire team throughout the event.
The Royal Hospital School is incredibly proud of all three riders. Their success at Windsor not only highlights their sporting talent but also reflects the school’s commitment to character development, leadership, and excellence in all pursuits.
