Finborough School Announces Significant Investment in Boarding Facilities
Finborough School, a leading all-through day and boarding school for children aged 2 to 18 in Stowmarket, Suffolk, is proud to announce a considerable investment in the complete refurbishment of its boarding facilities.
This transformative project is set to begin imminently and underscores the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, personal development, and the holistic wellbeing of every student.

The refurbishment, which spans every boarding space within the school’s generous grounds, has been meticulously designed to support the needs of both domestic and international boarders from Year 3 through to Sixth Form. Each pupil will benefit from their own personal space, complete with a dedicated desk for focused study and academic achievement. The plan also includes refreshing communal areas to support a diverse array of evening and weekend activities that are an integral part of the school’s vibrant boarding programme.
For the youngest boarders, the new design emphasises a warm, homely environment that nurtures comfort and security, creating a true home away from home. Meanwhile, Sixth Form students will enjoy newly created recreation areas inspired by modern university-style shared spaces, encouraging independence, collaboration, and social development in preparation for life beyond school. Working with the students, the project management team at the school has created a series of mood boards to help visualise how the proposed updates will look and feel. One student commented:
'I’m really looking forward to seeing our ideas come to life, and can’t wait to spend time in the new rooms.'
With the appointment of a new Director of Boarding, Mr. James Conlon, who joins Finborough this August from The Royal School in Surrey, Headmaster Mr. Steven Clark commented on the new development:
