Hawford Equestrian Team Qualifies for Prestigious Championships

The King鈥檚 Hawford equestrian team is celebrating after some outstanding performances at the National Schools Equestrian Association鈥檚 (NSEA) competition held at Rectory Farm on June 8th.

Thanks to a series of impressive individual and team performances, the team has qualified for the renowned NSEA Grassroots Championships, to be held at Hickstead in August.

In total, King’s Hawford children completed 19 rounds across four competitive classes, with every single team competing qualifying for the championships - an incredible achievement and testament to the children’s dedication and team spirit.

In the 40cm Style Class, Georgina N, rode her new pony Storm, alongside new team members Izzy and Charlotte, producing a fantastic round that finished on just 16 penalties - an impressive 24 points ahead of the runners-up. Georgina claimed 1st place individually, with Izzy securing 4th out of 40 riders. Bella W and Claudia O also competed individually, both jumping clear rounds and earning top 10 finishes, meaning all five children have now qualified for the Championships.

In the 50cm Optimum Time Class, King’s Hawford fielded two full teams among over 50 riders. With seven clear rounds and multiple top 10 individual placings, all eight children earned their championship qualification.

In the 60cm Speed Class, the team earned a strong 4th-place finish and yet another championship qualification. This was followed by the 70cm class, where Rosie and Chloe both delivered flawless clear rounds.

King’s Hawford Headmaster, Tom Butt, said: “The entire team displayed outstanding talent, effort, and unity throughout the day. The King’s Hawford community is incredibly proud of their achievements, and the future of its equestrian team looks exceptionally bright.”

With the team now 14 members strong, Kings Hawford continues to grow its presence in the National Schools Equestrian Association. The team’s latest achievements continue the school’s exceptional record in equestrian events, having already secured several Championship qualifications earlier in the year.

In May, Year 6 pupil, Adelyn, was also awarded NSEA’s prestigious Horsemanship Award in recognition of her skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
