Hampshire Senior School students on line up at Edinburgh Fringe next month
A group of 13- to 17-year-olds from Embley in Romsey have secured a place on the Edinburgh Fringe programme next month.
Wilde - The Untold Story of Constance
A captivating new musical, Wilde is the untold story of Constance, wife of Oscar Wilde. A tale of courage, loyalty and love, Wilde reveals the resilience of the incredible woman who stood alongside one of literature’s greats, and the scandal that destroyed them both. Tír na nÓg Theatre Company is delighted to present the world premiere of Wilde at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025 from 1 to 9 August at theSpace @ Niddry St.
Wilde is a labour of love; written, composed and performed by a gifted group of drama students, who are aged 13 to 17, from Embley Senior School in Hampshire who form the Tír na nÓg Theatre Company. Inspired by Franny Moyle’s 2011 biography of Constance Wilde, the theatre company felt compelled to present Constance’s unique tale as their debut Fringe performance. With support from Oscar and Constance Wilde’s only grandchild, Merlin Holland, and the Wilde estate, the Company have developed a moving and honest portrayal of an extraordinary woman that is sure to delight Fringe audiences this summer.
Embley is a co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 2 to 18. Set in a stunning 130-acre woodland campus, the school exists with a core purpose to create a generation of young people who will make the world a better place; our Drama students are ready to do just that!
