King鈥檚 Cricket Star Selected to Play in the Hundred
A Sixth Form student from King鈥檚 Worcester has been selected to play in the prestigious professional cricket tournament, The Hundred.
Phoebe Brett, 17, will be playing for Birmingham Phoenix in what is the biggest franchise tournament in the UK, having impressed coaches with her performances for England Under 19s at the World Cup in Malaysia earlier this year, as well as Warwickshire Bears.
Pheobe is the youngest player selected for the squad and can now name a host of national and international players amongst her teammates, including Australian star Ellyse Perry.
Left arm orthodox spinner, Pheobe, will play in a series of fixtures across the UK against eight city-based teams created specifically for The Hundred. The team’s first game will take place on 8th August at Edgbaston, with the tournament taking place over five weeks until the end of the summer.
Pheobe signed her first professional contract with Warwickshire Bears in June, where she has since played in every fixture, taking wickets in each one. With Phoebe’s help, the team has now progressed to finals day of the Vitality T20 Blast women’s competition.
Phoebe has played a key role in the King’s Worcester 1st XV team this season, balancing this with her A level studies in Geography, Psychology and PE studies.
