King’s Pupil Wins Best Supporting Actress at National School Theatre Awards
King’s Worcester is celebrating after talented young performer, Amelia Walmsley, was nationally recognised as Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding performance in the school’s production of ‘White Christmas’
The 2025 National School Theatre Awards (NSTA), affectionately known as ‘the Oscars for schools’, took place at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London on 23rd June. The prestigious event celebrates the best that school theatre has to offer nationwide, and was attended by pupils, teachers and industry professionals.
White Christmas received a glowing review from an NSTA representative in December, and was subsequently nominated for a string of accolades, including Best Musical, Best Actress in a Musical, and Best Supporting Actor in a Musical, as well as Best Supporting Actress in a Musical.
Fifteen year old Amelia’s exceptional, scene-stealing performance as Martha was described in the NSTA review as '
a performance that would not have been out of place on a professional stage.'
Shara Parry, Head of Drama at King’s Worcester, said:
'For many aspiring performers, standing centre stage in a West End theatre, receiving the acclaim of a full house, is the stuff of dreams. For Amelia, that dream has become a reality. Congratulations, Amelia, this is a richly deserved accolade.'
Dr Alison Oliver, Acting Head at King’s Worcester, said: '
We couldn’t be prouder of Amelia for this fantastic achievement. She is an exceptionally talented pupil, and along with her fellow cast members delivered a phenomenal production of White Christmas.'
